Benefits for you and the NHS

Improved access to patient health and social care information across multiple providers will lead to:

Improved access to patient health and social care information across multiple providers will lead to:
  • Better and faster clinical decisions which means you will be treated quicker and will be back home faster
  • You won’t be asked the same questions over and over again
  • It’s safer because clinicians have all of your information e.g any allergies you have, or medications you are on
  • It reduces the chances of errors being made
  • An improved patient journey because the different care providers know what your preferences are
  • You will feel more involved and engaged in your care package
The Cheshire Care Record also reduces pressure on the NHS:
  • With information being shared, there will be fewer follow up appointments e.g. if you have been to A&E, your GP will get all the information that they need digitally
  • Different care providers will know instantly what medications you are taking with no delay
  • You will only need to go to the appointments you need to, not for the same thing but with different providers
  • You will be discharged from hospital quicker
  • There will be fewer emergency admissions from GP’s, out-of-hours and A&E

There will also be noticeable cost savings for example:

  • Fewer repeat tests, less time filling in forms and chasing results, not as much printing and postal costs
  • Time is saved by clinical, but also support staff who won’t have to request and respond to requests for your records
